As a child, I always envied other people who had different colors for their eyes. I had seen many blue-eyed people, an occasional violet or gray eyed person, and even green eyed people.
I would at times look at myself in the mirror at my quite plain brown eyes and hope to have been born with such sparkling and unique colored eyes that unequivocally capture the attention of many because of their brightness.
The Search
I am quite ordinary, to be frank. Black hair and brown eyes set into an oval face. Though I do not begrudge my appearance, I have always wondered how it would feel like to have blonde or even red hair, or even blue or green eyes, which would make people stare or take a second look at you to be sure that they had seen right.
When colored contact lenses came out, I was ecstatic but wary. I had never needed glasses or contact lenses, so I was not sure how exactly you would wear them, and I was afraid that if I wore them the wrong way, I might destroy my eyes.

The Verdict
